Banana/Plantain (Kola)

Banana plants are of the family Musaceae. Cultivated primarily for their fruit bananas are rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, and potassium.. The banana fruit grow in hanging clusters. Each individual fruit (known as a banana or 'finger') has a protective outer layer (a peel or skin) with a fleshy edible inner portion. The flower of the banana plant also known as banana

blossom or banana heart is used in Southeast Asian, Bengali and Kerala cuisine. Burmese, Bengali and Kelara cooking also use the tender core of the banana plant's trunk. Bananas fried with batter is a popular dessert in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Banana fritters can be served with ice-cream as well. The juice extract prepared from the tender core is used to treat kidney stones. Dried powder of banana is also good. Burnt leaves contain potash and soda salts, phosphoric acid and magnesia. Each part of the plant is treated as medicine. Stem and the root are used for diabetes. Banana leaves are extensively used too. Food is served in them. They are used to wrap food for cooking as well as carrying and packing cooked foods.

Hibiscus (Joba)

Hibiscus belongs to the family Malvaceae and has a large genus of about 200–220 species of flowering plants. It thrives in warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. The genus includes both annual and perennial herbaceous plants, and woody shrubs and small

trees. The leaves are simple and alternately arranged with toothed margins.
The flowers are large and trumpet-shaped with five or more petals, ranging from white to pink, red, purple or yellow. Kenaf, species of Hibiscus is extensively used in paper making. While roselle is used as a vegetable and to make herbal teas and jams. The popular jamaican drink in Mexico is made from calyces of the roselle plant. In Egypt

and Sudan, the roselle petals are used to make a tea called karkade.The Hibiscus is used as an offering to Goddess Kali and Lord Ganesha in Hindu worship. Hibiscus, especially white hibiscus is considered to have medicinal properties in the Indian traditional system of medicine, Ayurveda. Roots are used to make various decoctions believed to cure various ailments.
