  Jagadish Chandra Bose

Jagadish Chandra Bose was one of the pioneers of contemporary science in India. He was a Bengali physicist from India, who pioneered the research of radio and microwave optics. He is also measured as the father of Bengali language Science Fiction. His lesson was on the trait of electro-magnetic waves. His foremost accomplishment was to display the

resemblance of responses to stimulus among the breathing and the inorganic as well as the essential resemblance of responses in plant and animal tissues. The British Government knighted him in 1917 and was selected F.R.S. in 1920, the first Indian physicist to obtain the honour.

Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose was born in a well to do Bengali family in Bikrampur, Dhaka on 30th Nov 1858. His father Bhagwan Chandra Bose was a district Magistrate. In his early life, his formal education started like any other boy but in his youth, he was sent to Calcutta where he finished his schooling and college from St Xavier.

His quest for knowledge took him to England, where he did his further studies at the Cambridge and the London Universities. For a phenomenal career as a student he was highly acclaimed in the West and for his research paper, he was awarded the DSc from London University in 1896.

He came back to Calcutta and joined Presidency College as a Professor. In the year 1900, he was invited to visit Paris to be a delegate of the International Physics Congress. He was probably the first Indian to be on the top of Eiffel tower. In 1911, he invented the Resonant Recorder and in1917 he came up with his most important invention, the Kreskograph which

established the fact that plants have life. It was in this year that he founded "Bosu Bigyan Mandir" to give the young researchers an institute to carry out their quest. The famous English essayist Aldous Huxley in his book 'Jesting Pilate' vividly described his experiments with plant life. In 1920, 11 members of Royal Society of Science acknowledged his inventions through a letter to the Times Magazine.

He also wrote a number of books like 'Plant Response", "Electro Physiology", "Motor Mechanism of Plants" and "Abyakta", all of which deals with the experience he had with plant life.

He founded the 'Bose Research Institute' in Kolkatta in 1917. After finishing his studies in London, Bose come again to Kolkatta and was selected Professor at Presidency College in Kolkatta. Then he became the director of the organization he founded and remained in the station till his death on 23rd November 1937.
Bose was not simply a biologist, but as well a physicist.

Bose thought that by focusing on the borders among dissimilar physical and biological sciences, he would be capable to exhibit the core unison of all things. Bose's natural researches were founded originally by the innovation that an electric headset seems to demonstrate knowledge of exhaustion after continual use. He can precisely be called the discoverer of wireless telegraphy. Bose was the first in the planet to manufacture and display in community (1985) the apparatus that generated microwaves-radio waves of very short wave length.
Bose performed fragile experiments on plant existence and made-up recorders of high intensification and great exactness. He was also honoured as Fellow of the Royal Society (1920), was elected as a member of the Vienna Academy of Science, 1928 and the member of the League of Nations' Committee for Intellectual Cooperation. He was also the creator of the National Institute of Sciences of India (now renamed as the Indian National Science Academy)
