Just before the Durga Puja it has become customary as well as part of the celebrations to publish puja magazines or "Puja Barshiki". Children, the young and the old are all fond of these magazines. Big publishing houses bring out special editions with numerous exciting stories.Puja Barshiki 2007 has interesting articles, novels and short stories from well-known authors.

Anandamela another Puja Barshiki of 2007, a favourite Bengali Puja magazine among teenagers and young adults comprises of interesting novels written by Sunil Gangopadhyay, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay,Samaresh Majumder,Suchitra Bhattacharya, Sukanta Gangopadhyay and others.

It has a special section for short stories as well as lengthy ones.Short story contributers are none other than Shaktipada Rajguru,Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya, Ullash Mullick, Shishir Biswas, Ashok Basu, Shourab Mukhopadhyay while lengthy stories have been written by Dulendra Bhowmick, Himadri Kishore Dasgupta and others. Poetry lovers will enjoy poems of Sunil Gangopadhyay and Ratantonu Ghati.Anandamela has articles related to science too written by Pathik Guha, Judhajit Dasgupata, Bibek Sengupta. Avid sport lovers will enjoy articles by Paroma Sen,Suman Bandyopadhay and Argha Mukhopadhyay.

Colured Comic Strips feature Satyajit Ray's "Robertson er Ruby" with superslueth Feluda on the prowl illustrated by Abhijit Chattapadhyay; Premendra Mitra's Khona da in "Kaanch" with illustrations by Subra Chakraborty makes enjoyble reading; Shibram Chakraborty's 'Chor Dhorlo Gobordhon' with sketches done by Shourab Mukhopadyay is also worth mentioning. Crossword Puzzle and Quizes are also found in the later sections of the Puja magazine. The cover design of the Puja Barshiki has been done by Amitabha Chanda.

This year Ananda Bajar Patrika, the magazine that is awaited eagerly by most has in its contents interesting novels by well known authors like Sunil Gangopadhyay, Suchitra Bhattacharya, Harsha Dutta and Sangeeta Bandopadhyay. There are stories written by Samaresh Majumder, Bani Basu, Atin Bandyopaddhyay, Indra Mitra, Trapada Ray,Romanath

Ray,Shekhar Basu, Prochet Gupta,Sukanta Gangopadhyay, Subhomanash Ghosh, Subrata Sengupta,Anita Agnihotri, Banibrata Chakraborty and Mihir Gangopadhyay. Poetry lovers can revel in the verses written by Sunil Gangopadhyay, Aurobindo Guha, Nabanita Debsen, Buddhadeb Dasgupta and others.
