Just before the Durga Puja it has become customary as well as part of the celebrations to publish puja magazines or "Puja Barshiki". Children, the young and the old are all fond of these magazines. Big publishing houses bring out special editions with numerous exciting stories.Puja Barshiki 2007 has interesting articles, novels and short stories from well-known authors.

Saradiya Anandalok

Anandal Lok always sought after for its articles on films and stars must be the most popular of all the Puja Barshikis that are published a month ahead of the festivities. This year's Ananda Lok has stories on Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Priety Zinta, Salmaan Khan, Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Rani

Mukherjee and Bipasha Basu. There are interviews with Bappi Lahiri, Bollywood's music composer, Hema Malini and Tollywood's Debashree. Articles on Nipoti Chattapadhay, Prasenjit, Pran, Rittik Roshan and Kareena are the star attractions. An interesting write up on the new genre of singers highlighting Sudhin Dasgupta and articles on Bangla Cinema and foreign films with photo features of both Bollywood and Hollywood make interesting reading. Besides there are novels as well as film gossip coloumns.

Puja Barshiki without the all time favourite 'Desh' is unthinkable. This year the special attraction of 'Desh' is Rabindranath Tagore's 'Patrabali'(letters) and Nandalal Bose's 'Unpublished Letters'. Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Samaresh Majumdar, Tillotama Majumdar, Sukanta Gangopadhyay, Binayak Bandopadhyay have contributed with interesting novels. Stories by Sunil

Gangopadhyay,Suchitra Bhattacharya, Bani Basu,Harsha Dutta, Sangeeta Bandopadhyay, Maniratna Mukhopadhyay and Krishnendu Mukhopadhyay make interesting reading. An essay witten by Prathik Guha 'Mahabishsher Mahasangeet' is to be reckoned with while you will love the poems written by Sankha Ghosh, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Subodh Sarkar, Tasleema Nasreen and others.
